The logo or emblem for the Confederation has changed, it may change again.
Everything is in a state of flux at the moment as this Confederation gets off the ground.
The four colors of the medicine wheel are the Chiricahua directional colors that also represent the four significant mountain ranges. These colors are an important part of the Mountain Spirit (gaan) Ceremony.
Black - East
Blue - South
White - North
Yellow - West
Since the Chiricahua adaptability and dedication to freedom are at the heart of this Confederation it seems right to honor them by having the foundation of our insignia be rooted in one of their most important beliefs.
The Naja Pendant is significant to many Native American Tribes and Nations throughout Turtle Island. You have probably seen this shape of pendant on "Squash Blossom Necklaces" made by the Navajo. The pendant itself is not where the name "Squash Blossom" comes from as the beads typically paired with this pendant are shaped like immature squash blossoms. The crescent "Naja", while easily recognizable and significant to many Native American cultures, seems to have no particular meaning and appears to be adopted from a symbol used by European , Asian, and African Tribes in antiquity. Since this symbol appears to be shared by tribes across the world without having a specific, inherent meaning, it is the perfect representation of the Confederation of Aboriginal and Métis Nde.
The Fleur de Lis is a nod to the Métis peoples of Canada. The French word "métis " is equivalent to the Spanish word "mestizo" and simply means "mixed European and Indigenous". We have no direct affiliation with the Métis people who have claimed this word as their name for themselves, however, we have great admiration for what they have accomplished in becoming recognized as a distinct culture.
This design is very rough and will be refined in the future.
